Equipment Development Engineer (Semiconductor Manufacturing): Developing, integrating, and deploying assembly and test process equipment, factory automation systems, and material handling solutions for a pilot line in Japan with an accent on equipment lifecycle ownership, supplier integration, and manufacturing readiness. Focus on integrating AMHS, EFEMs, load ports, and process tools, qualifying multi-tool systems, troubleshooting complex controls and equipment issues, and improving energy and material efficiency.

What you will do
- Define equipment capability requirements across hardware, software, and controls with internal teams and suppliers.
- Lead the design, development, integration, installation, and qualification of assembly/test process equipment and automation systems.
- Integrate AMHS, EFEMs, load ports, process tools, and other systems into a cohesive pilot line.
- Partner with equipment suppliers through design, build, installation, testing, and qualification phases.
- Execute unit, integration, and pilot-line validation while troubleshooting complex equipment, controls, and integration issues.
- Drive manufacturing readiness, process capability, energy-efficiency, and consumables or material waste reduction improvements.
Requirements
- On-site availability in Tokyo, Japan.
- Excellent communication skills in Japanese and English.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, systems engineering, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in process engineering, equipment development, systems integration, semiconductor manufacturing, or manufacturing automation.
- At least 5 years of project management and technical leadership experience.
- Strong experience with CAD tools, data analysis, and Microsoft Office applications.
Nice to have
- Semiconductor manufacturing process equipment experience, especially in assembly and test.
- Experience with semiconductor material handling systems such as FOUPs, trays, EFEMs, load ports, AMHS, and sorter systems.
- Familiarity with SEMI standards, equipment interoperability, industrial controls, and factory automation.
- Experience in pilot-line, R&D factory, or multi-tool integration environments.
- Experience improving energy efficiency and reducing consumables or material waste.
