TL;DR
Field Service Engineer (YieldStar): Installing, qualifying, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing YieldStar metrology equipment at a US customer site with an accent on tool performance, root-cause analysis, and operational execution. Focus on leading equipment engineering support from installation through qualification and sustaining, solving complex hardware and process issues, and coordinating with customer and global ASML teams.
Location: Austin, Texas, United States; onsite at the customer site. The role is expected to transition toward a future high-volume manufacturing location elsewhere in Texas as the customer’s install base grows. The position includes a compressed work week with 12-hour alternating shifts and domestic and international travel for training and cross-site support.

What you will do
- Install, qualify, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair YieldStar metrology equipment at the customer site.
- Support equipment from installation and tool qualification through wafer introduction, pilot-line performance, and high-volume manufacturing sustaining.
- Diagnose failures, identify root causes, define and execute action plans, and escalate issues with clear technical communication when required.
- Coordinate planning, progress, issue resolution, and operational readiness with customer engineers, line managers, technical teams, and global stakeholders.
- Complete maintenance documentation, parts handling, fab-area cleanup, and call-closure activities.
- Prepare defect and failure analysis reports, post-mortems, procedure updates, and improvement proposals focused on cycle time and cost reduction.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in customer support for high-tech products.
- At least 2 years of experience with lithography/metrology systems or similar technology.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, semiconductor processes, and relevant software.
- Must be legally authorized to access controlled technology under United States export regulations before beginning work.

- Work with a regional network of YieldStar engineers and a pilot-line applications team of approximately 10 people.
- Receive initial training and further training lasting 2–7 weeks during the first year; training locations may include Taiwan and the Netherlands.
- Travel is expected to be approximately 25% during the first year for training and about 10% annually afterward, with additional cross-site support as needed.
- Spend more than 50% of working time in a clean room, including shifts of up to 12 hours while wearing a cleanroom suit and PPE.
- Follow strict safety procedures, including pre-work assessments and the use of protective equipment such as hard-toe shoes, bump caps or hard hats, respirators, and harnesses.
