TL;DR
Senior Software Engineer - Inventory (TypeScript/React/Next.js): Building scalable, accessible digital storefront interfaces for GM's global vehicle commerce platform with an accent on inventory search, real-time availability, responsive media galleries, and reusable component architecture. Focus on micro frontend systems, performance optimization, accessibility, AI-assisted development, and location-aware vehicle discovery at global scale.

Location: Hybrid in Austin, Texas; onsite attendance is required three times per week. The role may be eligible for relocation benefits.

What you will do

  • Build scalable, accessible, and reusable UI components for vehicle inventory search, filtering, and discovery across devices and markets.
  • Develop search-driven interfaces with advanced filtering, faceted navigation, sorting, pagination, comparison, and shortlisting.
  • Integrate real-time data feeds and event-driven updates for inventory availability, pricing, and dealer allocations.
  • Build responsive vehicle media galleries with optimized image loading, CDN strategies, and support for 360° views.
  • Contribute to a micro frontend architecture, monorepo, internal design system, and independently deployable web component packages.
  • Automate repetitive workflows, apply AI-assisted development practices, and modernize the frontend stack while improving performance and accessibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of frontend software development experience designing scalable component architectures.
  • Expert proficiency in TypeScript, React, and Next.js, including hooks, server components, SSR/SSG, and ISR.
  • Hands-on experience with SolidJS or similar reactive frameworks and web components using Custom Elements.
  • Strong knowledge of CSS, SASS, or Tailwind CSS; software architecture, design patterns, micro frontends, component-driven development, and reactive programming.
  • Ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor peers, make strategic technical decisions, and work in Agile/Scrum teams with product, design, backend, and DevOps.

Nice to have

  • Experience with reusable UI or web component libraries and enterprise design systems.
  • Backend experience with Java, Spring Boot, or Quarkus, plus Azure and CI/CD.
  • Accessibility programming and WCAG 2.x compliance experience.
  • Frontend testing with Vitest, Playwright, BrowserStack, or equivalent unit, integration, and end-to-end automation tools.
  • Experience with Turborepo, Vite, Rollup, and AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor.
