TL;DR

Senior Commercial Lawyer (Public Sector): Leading legal support for high-value UK S&C transactions within the public sector with an accent on contract negotiation and risk management. Focus on shaping bid strategies, navigating complex supply chains, and ensuring compliance with public procurement legislation.

Location: Must be based in Belfast, Bristol, or London (at least 3 days a week on site)

What you will do

  • Lead legal support on high-value, complex UK S&C transactions and shape bid strategies.
  • Partner with bid, technical, and procurement teams to define contractual and commercial approaches.
  • Draft, negotiate, and conclude complex customer, supplier, and partnership agreements.
  • Manage in-life contractual disputes, change controls, and adapt to regulatory changes.
  • Provide expert guidance on governance, compliance, and competition law.
  • Build cross-functional relationships and influence senior stakeholders to support informed decision-making.

Requirements

  • Eligible for DV Clearance (requires UK citizenship and 10+ years continuous UK residency).
  • Qualified lawyer with at least 8 years of Post Qualified Experience (PQE).
  • Proven experience with public sector contracts and understanding of public procurement legislation.
  • Strong record of working on commercial contracts within the Telecoms and Technology sectors.
  • Expertise in balancing contractual risk with commercial reward.
  • Knowledge of Ofcom regulations, data protection, and financial services legislation.
