What you will do

• Lead the design and controls development of a full brake system for an autonomous vehicle platform.
• Author system technical specifications, requirements, and interface control documents.
• Develop and execute system integration and validation test plans, including HIL testing and virtual verification.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and controls teams to ensure seamless subsystem integration.
• Develop System FMEAs, diagnostic strategies, and fault reactions for safety-critical operations.
• Lead root cause analysis and issue resolution through data analysis and hardware investigations.

Requirements

• Must be based in Foster City, CA (On-site role).
• Proven experience in vehicle dynamics and control theory applied to brake system design.
• Extensive experience with brake system modeling and simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink.
• Deep knowledge of model-based design processes and requirements management tools like DOORS or Polarion.
• Strong understanding of automotive electrical architectures, communication protocols (CAN/LIN/Ethernet), and ISO 26262 functional safety standards.
• Experience developing System FMEAs and diagnostic strategies for safety-critical systems.

Nice to have

• Experience in real-time embedded software architecture such as AUTOSAR or Linux.
• Expertise in objective and subjective brake system evaluation criteria including thermal performance and pedal feel.
