Indirect Tax Lead (Finance): Owning all aspects of global indirect tax compliance and scaling tax infrastructure for an AI product company with an accent on US sales & use tax and international VAT/GST. Focus on managing the full compliance cycle, automating tax processes via Stripe and other engines, and establishing tax frameworks in new global markets.

What you will do
- Own the global indirect tax footprint across 40+ jurisdictions, including filings, payments, and reconciliations.
- Manage the full compliance cycle, from journal entries and exemption certificates to audit defense.
- Scale tax infrastructure by maintaining configuration in Stripe and preparing for e-invoicing mandates.
- Act as the company's primary expert on indirect tax, partnering with Finance, Legal, and Product teams.
- Establish compliance frameworks in new markets as the company registers in new jurisdictions.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in US sales & use tax, including multi-state compliance, nexus analysis, and product taxability.
- Working knowledge of international VAT/GST compliance and experience owning global filings.
- Proven track record of end-to-end ownership of multi-jurisdiction indirect tax compliance.
- Strong technical skills with billing platforms or tax engines like Stripe Tax, Avalara, or Vertex.
- Ability to operate autonomously in a high-velocity, fast-moving environment.
Nice to have
- Experience with US indirect tax audits (state sales tax or gross receipts).
- Familiarity with e-invoicing mandates and DST regimes.
- Experience with tax engine implementations or supporting new market launches.
