TL;DR

Director of TK-12 Policy (Education): Leading the vision, strategy, and execution of a policy agenda focused on advancing education equity through systems change with an accent on racial and economic barriers in the U.S. education system. Focus on developing high-quality policy positions, influencing policymakers, and managing a high-performing team to demonstrate policy impact.

Location: Based in the Oakland office, eligible for telework up to 3 days per week

Salary: $124,400 - $155,500 per year

What you will do

  • Set the long-term vision and translate it into goals and work plans for the TK-12 Policy team.
  • Monitor the education equity landscape to inform and shift the organization's policy positions.
  • Develop high-quality policy briefs, statements, and resources for a broad array of stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization as a thought-leader throughout California to influence policy decisions.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with policymakers, peer organizations, and funders.
  • Manage and develop a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, public policy, or a related field (advanced degree is a plus).
  • At least 10 years of experience in education policy analysis, data, and research.
  • Deep expertise in TK-12 education policy with a strong focus on equity issues.
  • Significant experience managing and leading professional teams.
  • Must be based in or be able to work from the Oakland office (hybrid).
