TL;DR

Project Design Engineer (Mechanical Engineering): Leading detailed product definition and realization of sensing technologies with an accent on manufacturability and production readiness. Focus on applying DFx principles, managing engineering changes (ECR/ECO), and ensuring data alignment across CAD and ERP platforms.

Location: Plainville, CT, United States. Must be a U.S. Person (citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual) due to ITAR regulations.

Salary: $73,590 – $136,730

What you will do

  • Lead detailed product design from concept handoff through production release using SolidWorks.
  • Apply DFx principles to deliver manufacturable, cost-effective, and production-ready designs.
  • Define and maintain complete product definitions, including drawings and BOMs (eBOM/mBOM).
  • Execute engineering changes (ECR/ECO) and implement product updates for quality and cost improvements.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to implement design changes.
  • Ensure accuracy and alignment of product data across CAD, ERP (JD Edwards), PIM, and web platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in mechanical or electromechanical product design in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, including assemblies, drawings, and configurations.
  • Working knowledge of machining, injection molding, casting, and assembly processes.
  • Experience with BOM structures and engineering change management (ECR/ECO).
  • Must be a U.S. Person or be prepared to collaborate with the company in securing U.S. government export authorizations (ITAR).

Nice to have

  • Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP).
  • Knowledge of sensor technologies, fluid handling systems, or industrial products.
  • Experience with VAVE, Lean, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Exposure to CAD/PDM/ERP/PIM integrated environments.
