Senior Process Engineer (Optical Fabrication)

Location: Wilton, Connecticut, United States; onsite work in a factory and clean room environment.

What you will do

• Own the development, stabilization, and daily performance of CNC deterministic polishing processes.
• Define process parameters, process windows, capability targets, tooling requirements, environmental controls, and measurement strategies.
• Improve first-pass yield, output, and quality by detecting and eliminating sources of process variation.
• Interpret interferometry, profilometry, and surface inspection data and convert results into process decisions.
• Lead the introduction and qualification of new fixtures, tools, software, and machine upgrades.
• Collaborate with production, quality, equipment engineering, maintenance, grinding, and polishing teams on immediate support and long-term improvements.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical, Optical, Materials, or a related engineering field.
• At least 5 years of experience in optical fabrication and CNC deterministic polishing machines.
• Experience with tooling mechanics, CNC deterministic polishing interpretation, process development, structured problem solving, data analysis, and root cause analysis.
• Proficiency with interferometry, profilometry, surface inspection tools, and JMP, Minitab, or equivalent statistical software.
• Demonstrated capability in 6P readiness, SPC analysis, verification-driven corrective action, and cross-functional leadership.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future and legally authorized to access controlled technology under U.S. export regulations.
