What you will do
- Own the architecture and technical roadmap for Voice/VoIP infrastructure, including SIP trunking and real-time audio pipelines.
- Design high-availability, low-latency voice systems across global telephony carriers and providers.
- Drive technical decisions on protocols (SIP, SDP, RTP, WebRTC) and real-time media transport.
- Optimize the integration between voice infrastructure and conversational AI models (ASR, TTS, turn-taking, barge-in).
- Diagnose and resolve systemic issues regarding call quality, latency, jitter, and packet loss.
- Mentor senior and staff engineers, acting as a technical multiplier across the organization.
Requirements
- 10+ years of engineering experience, with 5+ years in production Voice/VoIP or carrier-grade voice infrastructure.
- Deep expertise in SIP, SDP, RTP/SRTP, RTCP, WebRTC, ICE, and real-time media transport protocols.
- Hands-on experience with audio codecs (Opus, G.711/G.722) and SIP-based infrastructure such as Kamailio, FreeSWITCH, or Asterisk.
- Strong systems programming skills in Go, C, C++, or Rust.
- Experience with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and Kubernetes.
- Proven track record of owning architecture for complex, large-scale distributed systems with strict latency requirements.

- Experience instrumenting voice-quality observability and analyzing MOS metrics.
