Backend Software Engineer – QOPA (Quantum Computing)

Location: Germany, Stuttgart office; 3 days from the office and 2 days hybrid

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services for quantum computer control and orchestration.
• Develop components for system configuration, health management, and cluster operations in distributed networked environments.
• Integrate backend services with hardware-facing and embedded systems.
• Support installation and setup of software components on quantum computing products.
• Own features end-to-end, from requirements and design through implementation and testing.
• Improve system reliability, observability, and operational usability while collaborating across sites and disciplines.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience.
• Proficiency in at least one of Go, Python, or Kotlin, with willingness to learn the others.
• Experience working in Linux and managing configuration with Ansible.
• Experience with network-based inter-process communication using TCP, UDP, gRPC, or REST, including debugging connectivity and latency issues.
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements engineering and design to development and testing.
• Excellent verbal and written English; the role requires working from Germany with regular office attendance.

• Experience with AI coding agents.
