Director of Engineering (Fintech)

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering organization across multiple teams.
• Partner with the CTO and cross-functional leaders to define technical strategy and the engineering roadmap.
• Own engineering execution, delivering reliable, high-quality customer-facing products with speed and predictability.
• Provide technical leadership across architecture, scalability, reliability, security, and engineering quality.
• Recruit, develop, and retain engineering managers, senior engineers, and other technical leaders.
• Remove technical and organizational bottlenecks while balancing product delivery with platform, infrastructure, and architecture investments.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant leadership of engineering teams and organizations.
• Experience managing and developing engineering managers and senior engineers.
• Strong computer science and software engineering fundamentals.
• Track record of building and scaling reliable, customer-facing software products and distributed systems.
• Strong technical judgment, pragmatic architecture decision-making, product sense, and communication skills.
• Hands-on, low-ego leadership style with a strong focus on ownership, execution, software quality, and engineering excellence.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, banking, payments, lending, or other regulated financial systems.
• Experience building products at significant consumer scale or leading teams through rapid growth and organizational change.
• Experience with mobile-first consumer products, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and modern distributed systems.
• Experience balancing security, risk, compliance, reliability, and product velocity.
