Salary: $105,000-$135,000 per year

What you will do
- Manage assignments and stories from pitch through publication, setting coverage priorities, deadlines, word limits, and reporting resources.
- Direct breaking-news, enterprise, and analysis coverage focused on Capitol Hill topics including tax, transportation, and education.
- Review, evaluate, and edit stories while coordinating graphics, video, photography, and story tagging.
- Coach reporters and editors through constructive feedback on writing and reporting, often under tight deadlines.
- Lead special projects and support change initiatives across the news department.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least 5 years of journalism experience.
- Excellent editing, story-management, and news-judgment skills.
- Ability to independently assign stories, prioritize work, and manage daily team coverage.
- Ability to explain complex legal and government actions and develop engaging coverage.
- Experience in management, project management, or team leadership, with knowledge of digital news publishing operations.
