Fullstack Java Engineer (Sustainability)

What you will do

• Build and evolve user-facing applications for sustainability insights, portfolio steering, and emissions-related decision support.
• Develop backend services, REST APIs, and integrations for collecting, processing, and delivering sustainability data.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, UX Engineers, Data Analysts, Data Engineers, and business stakeholders to turn complex requirements into scalable digital products.
• Contribute to technical design and architecture decisions as the platform expands across business domains and sustainability sectors.
• Implement automated testing, monitoring, and continuous delivery practices while improving engineering standards and platform reliability.
• Mentor colleagues, reduce technical debt, and drive continuous improvement across products and technology.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Extensive experience designing, developing, and maintaining modern software applications across both frontend and backend.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Kotlin, or other JVM-based technologies.
• Experience with scalable web applications, distributed systems, REST APIs, service-based architectures, relational databases, and data-driven applications.
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks, preferably React and TypeScript, as well as automated testing, QA practices, CI/CD, and Agile multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, stakeholder-management, ownership, and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud-native architectures, containerisation, Kubernetes, and Azure DevOps or similar toolchains.
• Background in data-intensive products, analytics platforms, reporting solutions, data pipelines, or large-scale data processing.
• Experience with sustainability, ESG, climate, or regulatory products.
• Experience contributing to technical roadmaps, architecture evolution, and platform strategy.
• Experience in large international organisations and cross-border teams.
