  • Build crash, ANR, native crash, kernel panic, and diagnostic analysis infrastructure using artifacts such as tombstones, DropBox entries, and bug reports.
  • Investigate customer-facing production incidents, identify recurring failure patterns, and lead incident reviews, postmortems, and corrective actions.
  • Design log-based monitoring, anomaly detection, automated alerting, escalation frameworks, dashboards, and reliability metrics.
  • Improve platform observability, debuggability, diagnosability, and mean time to detect and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality engineering, customer support, security, and product teams on platform quality and reliability.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in native Android development with strong Java or Kotlin and Android Studio expertise.
  • Experience developing Android/AOSP system software and designing logging, diagnostics, or observability systems.
  • Strong experience with crash analysis, production debugging, root cause investigation, and large-scale system incidents.
  • Experience debugging Linux kernel or other low-level system software issues.
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++, Java, and/or Kotlin, plus knowledge of software architecture, operating systems, and system software fundamentals.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Android Framework components, kernel logging, tracing, Perfetto, Systrace, ftrace, or similar tools.
  • Experience operating crash analytics, telemetry, observability, monitoring, or cloud-native logging platforms.
  • Security incident response, forensic investigations, SRE, consumer electronics, or developer tools experience.
  • Experience with React, React Native, Angular, or similar modern JavaScript frameworks.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work focused on quality, reliability, operational excellence, continuous improvement, and exceptional user experiences.
  • Collaboration across engineering, quality, support, security, and product functions.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage, matching 401(k), paid time off, and a wellness program.
  • Employee discounts on Sony products and possible eligibility for a bonus package.

Hiring process

  • Background checks are conducted at the offer stage and may include criminal background checks for some roles.
