System Safety Engineer Sr (Aerospace)

Location: Hybrid. Must be a U.S. Citizen and be based in or be able to relocate to Orlando, FL or Dallas/Grand Prairie, TX.

What you will do

• Perform hazard analyses and recommend safety features to mitigate or eliminate risks in system design, software, training, and procedures.
• Develop and implement system safety programs, specifically supporting the Advanced Programs Line of Business.
• Coordinate and lead System Safety Working Group meetings and deliver technical documentation and presentations.
• Review specifications and design changes to evaluate adverse impacts on system safety.
• Participate in accident investigations and identify necessary corrective actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college.
• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
• Experience developing and implementing System Safety Programs in accordance with MIL-STD-882.
• Knowledge of implementing Software Safety Programs per AOP-52 and DoD guidelines.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting independent government Safety Review Boards.
• Knowledge of Human Factors Engineering or Model-based engineering.
• Familiarity with missile and launcher systems.
• Existing Secret clearance with a current 6-year background check.
• Experience using DOORS requirements application.
