Process Engineer (Optical Fabrication)

Location: Wilton, Connecticut, United States; onsite in an optics fabrication environment. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the USA and access controlled technology under U.S. export regulations.

What you will do

• Develop, document, and improve CNC machining processes, programs, workflows, toolpaths, feeds, speeds, and work holding.
• Optimize cycle times, quality, throughput, machine performance, repeatability, and reliability.
• Collaborate with production, quality, metrology, maintenance, vendors, and engineering teams to resolve technical challenges.
• Analyze machining performance using SPC, capability studies, JMP, Minitab, and data-driven problem solving.
• Run process trials and support qualification of new equipment, materials, and process changes.
• Drive safety, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, 5S, and workplace organization across CNC areas.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, optical, materials, or related engineering.
• At least 10 years of experience in optical fabrication process engineering or a related manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with optics fabrication, including CNC machining, polishing, and surface inspection.
• Experience with root-cause analysis, lean manufacturing, metrology, and quality assurance in optics manufacturing.
• Ability to lead problem-solving initiatives, manage multiple priorities, and deliver under tight deadlines.
• Legal authorization to work in the USA and eligibility to access controlled technology are required.

Nice to have

• Semiconductor or CNC manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge of DOE, Six Sigma, cleanroom protocols, SAP, or MES systems.
• Experience with NX, Mastercam, JMP, Minitab, or equivalent tools.
