TL;DR

Process Engineer (CNC Machining, Optical Fabrication): Support daily manufacturing operations by developing and improving CNC machining processes for optical fabrication, with an accent on optimizing cycle times, toolpaths, and work holding to improve quality and throughput. Focus on diagnosing machining issues, running SPC/capability studies, and driving data-driven process improvements from feasibility through production readiness.

Company

hirify.global develops and services advanced lithography machines used by leading chipmakers to manufacture smaller, more functional microchips.

What you will do

  • Champion a safety-first culture by identifying hazards and ensuring adherence to EHS safety protocols.
  • Develop, document, and improve CNC machining processes, programs, and workflows for new and existing products.
  • Optimize cycle times and machining parameters (toolpaths, feeds/speeds, work holding) to improve quality and throughput.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and metrology to resolve technical challenges and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Perform hands-on process trials and support qualification of new equipment, materials, and process changes.
  • Analyze machining performance using SPC and capability studies; define process specifications/control limits and drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Optical, Materials, or related field).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in optical fabrication process engineering or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with optics fabrication techniques, including CNC machining, polishing, and surface inspection.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis (RCA) and lean manufacturing tools.
  • Familiarity with metrology techniques and quality assurance in optics manufacturing.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the USA without employer sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Experience in a semiconductor or CNC manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with NX (solid modeling) and/or Mastercam (CAM).
  • Experience with SAP or MES systems.
  • Knowledge of cleanroom protocols and practices.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work in an optics fabrication environment with potential exposure to noise, vibration, and processing equipment.
  • Use required PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, and other protective equipment) in manufacturing areas.
  • Hands-on work includes frequent movement on the fabrication floor and occasional lifting/moving of materials or tooling up to 20 pounds.
  • Some travel may be required to support global manufacturing and supplier interactions.

Hiring process

  • Application and pre-selection for access to controlled technology eligibility as required by US Export Administration Regulations.
  • Interviews and evaluation of technical fit for optical fabrication process engineering and CNC process improvement.

Location: Wilton, CT, United States
