Principal Systems Engineer (Medical Devices)

Location: Parsippany, New Jersey, United States; onsite role

Annual salary: $131,900–$165,000, plus eligibility for an annual bonus.

What you will do

• Establish and refine system-level requirements for new and enhanced medical products.
• Lead system architecture and design, including subsystem partitioning, specifications, and interface requirements.
• Make hardware, software, mechanical, safety, cost, and performance trade-offs against clinical and business objectives.
• Lead implementation activities and resolve subsystem performance, interface, and cross-functional design issues.
• Oversee subsystem integration and verification testing for performance, safety, cost, and system-level robustness.
• Document system designs, operating principles, interfaces, clinical requirements, and product evolution plans while advising engineering teams.

Requirements

• Advanced engineering degree with training and experience in systems, electronics, software, and mechanical engineering.
• 15+ years of experience developing electronic hardware and embedded software for complex real-time measuring instruments.
• 10+ years of systems engineering experience leading architecture and systems engineering for complex real-time medical instruments.
• 7+ years leading systems engineering for multiprocessor systems using analog/digital electronics and embedded real-time software.
• Experience with biomedical signal acquisition and processing, embedded systems, power supplies, displays, batteries, data storage, wireless communications, and real-time operating systems.
• Knowledge of FDA and European Community medical-device regulations, human factors, engineering project management, and technical leadership in matrix organizations.
