Senior R&D Engineer (Medical Devices)

Location: Alameda, California, United States; on-site

Annual base salary: $130,000–$193,000

What you will do

• Design, prototype, and develop new medical devices and components.
• Lead projects within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Create CAD drawings, product specifications, risk analyses, test protocols, reports, studies, and work instructions.
• Plan, execute, interpret, and communicate engineering and product testing.
• Research and integrate new technologies, evaluate vendors, and support product development.
• Train engineers, technicians, and assemblers while troubleshooting prototypes and implementing corrective actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering is preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in R&D Engineering or product development within the medical device industry.
• Experience solving hands-on, multidisciplinary technical design problems.
• Engineering portfolio demonstrating strong engineering judgment and mechanical intuition.
• Ability to lead across organizational levels and communicate complex issues clearly in writing and verbally.
• Willingness and ability to work on site in Alameda, California.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Engineering.
• Experience with endovascular, electromechanical, or implantable devices.
