TL;DR

Simulation Engineer III (Autonomy & Robotics): Building and operating high-fidelity digital environments for robotic space exploration with an accent on physics-based modeling, sensor simulation, and HIL/SIL testbeds. Focus on creating synthetic data for AI/ML training and verifying autonomous systems for rovers, landers, and in-space vehicles.

Location: Must be based in the Greater Seattle Area (Onsite)

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain high-fidelity simulation environments using Gazebo and NVIDIA Isaac Sim.
  • Create physics-based models for vehicle dynamics and environmental interactions like lunar regolith.
  • Design and operate HIL and SIL testbeds to validate flight software and autonomy algorithms.
  • Execute large-scale, faster-than-real-time simulation campaigns for Monte Carlo analysis.
  • Collaborate with AI/ML teams to generate synthetic data for perception and navigation models.
  • Develop infrastructure for simulation automation, data analysis, and visualization.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or refugee/asylee due to export control regulations.
  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in complex, physics-based simulations for aerospace or robotics.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation design.
  • Experience modeling rigid body dynamics and sensor modalities like LiDAR, IMUs, and cameras.

Nice to have

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
  • Experience with closed-loop simulations for space vehicles or planetary rovers.
  • Familiarity with robotics middleware such as ROS/ROS2.
  • Experience with GPU-accelerated computing (CUDA) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
