Senior Perception Engineer (Robotics)

What you will do

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain perception systems for autonomous robots in real-world environments.
• Develop perception capabilities using LiDAR, vision, 3D perception, geometric reasoning, and multi-sensor fusion.
• Collaborate with planning and autonomy teams to define perception outputs for navigation, decision-making, and safety.
• Debug sensor timestamps, synchronization, calibration, data quality, coordinate frames, and hardware/software integration issues in the field.
• Profile, optimize, and validate algorithms on physical robots under compute, latency, sensor, and environmental constraints.
• Build data mining, training, evaluation, regression detection, and performance measurement pipelines for rare and safety-critical scenarios.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or a related technical field; a graduate degree is preferred.
• 4+ years of professional experience in machine learning, computer vision, robotics, or related areas, including substantial perception engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience deploying perception systems on real-world robotic platforms; simulation- or offline-only experience is insufficient.
• Strong experience with LiDAR and vision sensors, especially for 3D perception and robotics.
• Strong systems understanding of perception interfaces, latency, failure modes, and interactions with autonomy systems.
• Robust, production-quality C++ software engineering experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with CUDA and GPU optimization.
• Planning, navigation, or controls experience, including contributions to a planning stack.
• Experience integrating and calibrating custom stereo or multi-LiDAR sensor rigs.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, performance regression testing, and benchmarking.
• Leadership in research or field operations, or experience mentoring junior engineers and researchers.
