TL;DR

Messaging & Directory Services Engineer 3 (Active Directory/Entra ID): Support and improve enterprise identity and directory platforms, including Active Directory and Entra ID integrations, while handling BAU incidents and delivering projects across authentication, governance, and collaboration/email security. Focus on strengthening UK/EU coverage, owning AD/Windows directory operations (GPO, DNS/DHCP, hygiene), and modernising identity and lifecycle management with automation and infrastructure-as-code.

What you will do

  • Administer and support Active Directory across multiple regional domains, including directory hygiene and security baseline alignment.
  • Support Entra ID / hybrid identity integrations and related Microsoft platform dependencies.
  • Create, review, and maintain Group Policy Objects (GPOs); manage AD operations and cleanup, including domain controller/DNS/DHCP-related changes.
  • Handle incidents, escalations, requests, and changes for MDS-owned platforms; coordinate with global Ops, Server, Security, and EUC teams.
  • Contribute to identity governance, authentication modernisation, lifecycle management, and collaboration/email security projects.
  • Improve reliability and resilience by supporting automation, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code where appropriate, plus knowledge sharing and documentation.

Requirements

  • Location: Must be UK-based (London, GB).
  • 5+ years of hands-on Active Directory administration in an enterprise environment (preferably 10+ years).
  • Working knowledge of Entra ID and O365, including hybrid identity concepts.
  • Working knowledge of Okta administration (SSO, MFA, and identity troubleshooting).
  • Understanding of user lifecycle, directory hygiene, access controls, and privileged account management.
  • Experience with operational support (incidents/changes) and structured stakeholder communication and documentation.
