Engineering Lead

Location: Remote

Salary: $190,000–$240,000 per year

What you will do

• Own the technical vision, architecture, boundaries, data contracts, and technical debt strategy for a systems domain.
• Partner with a Technical Product Manager to turn business problems into initiatives and projects with high-level technical requirements.
• Run technical reviews for funded projects and coordinate reviews across domains when systems overlap.
• Set, maintain, and enforce shared technical standards across engineering.
• Build systems and code for the hardest problems, take Project Lead responsibilities when needed, and review production incidents for architectural root causes.
• Mentor engineers and Project Leads through system design and complex technical decisions.

Requirements

• Deep experience designing, building, and operating complex software systems.
• Ability to work as both an architect and an individual contributor, influencing technical direction without relying on managerial authority.
• Proficiency with Python, Django, Amazon Web Services, React, and PostgreSQL.
• Experience developing with AI tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar solutions.
• Experience reviewing technical work, communicating across engineering, product, and business, and working with distributed remote teams.
• Curiosity about insurance systems and strong communication, judgment, collaboration, and emotional intelligence.
