Principal Software Engineer, Game Safety

Location: United States; roles based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday.

What you will do

• Build and scale distributed systems supporting game moderation across billions of monthly engagement hours.
• Develop backend services, ML pipelines, and data-driven detection approaches for safety products.
• Investigate ambiguous problems and identify opportunities in a rapidly evolving, adversarial environment.
• Define technical direction through execution, mentorship, and work on complex engineering challenges.
• Partner with Moderation Operations, Product Management, and Data Science to deliver end-to-end products protecting users and developers.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience building and shipping high-scale backend systems to production.
• 6+ years of experience working with multi-person codebases, including open-source or personal projects.
• Ability to deliver products end-to-end from ideation through implementation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, user-oriented, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• For US-based roles, candidates must have suitable United States work authorization; certain visa categories may not be supported.
