Backend Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Architect REST and gRPC APIs backed by stable, scalable server-side implementations and asynchronous code.
• Design and build large-scale infrastructure for crawling, ranking, and retrieval systems.
• Implement security concepts and ship secure, compliant software for sensitive data.
• Write readable, maintainable, robust, and well-tested code.
• Improve code quality, reliability, and product velocity in collaboration with engineering peers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience building and scaling distributed systems.
• Experience with a strongly typed language such as Rust, C++, or Java.
• Strong programming skills and general Computer Science knowledge.
• Experience shipping high-quality products and writing performant, well-tested code.

Nice to have

• Experience with protocol buffers and gRPC.
• Experience with MapReduce or other massively distributed parallel computation frameworks.
• Experience as an early engineer at a hyper-growth startup.
• Experience in a world-class product organization.
