What you will do

• Manage, mentor, and grow a team of firmware engineers, providing technical guidance and performance feedback.
• Set team priorities and roadmaps in partnership with product and hardware leadership.
• Personally design and implement robust firmware on MCU platforms, including wireless connectivity, OTA updates, and sensor integration.
• Develop and optimize communication stacks for wireless protocols to ensure reliable data exchange.
• Write low-level code for hardware peripherals using interfaces such as GPIO, I2C, SPI, and UART.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to debug, test, and ensure the security and reliability of the firmware.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in embedded systems development.
• Prior experience leading, managing, or mentoring engineers (e.g., tech lead experience).
• Strong expertise in C programming for embedded systems and RTOS principles.
• Proficiency in hardware-software interfacing and troubleshooting tools (debuggers, Wireshark, oscilloscopes).
• Must be based in or able to work from San Bruno, California.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with FreeRTOS, ESP32, and Jetson Linux.
• Knowledge of cloud computing protocols like MQTT and platforms such as AWS (AWS CDK).
• Experience with cellular connectivity modules.
