Senior Software Engineer (Control Systems, Quantum Computing)

Location: Boulder, Colorado or Austin, Texas; hybrid work with at least 3 days per week in the office

Base salary: $150,000–$175,000 per year, plus annual bonus and equity

What you will do

• Build and test embedded firmware and software for software-defined radios, imaging pipelines, scientific instrumentation, and real-time digital feedback loops.
• Design and optimize deterministic, low-latency software for quantum hardware, including device drivers, Linux kernel modules, and custom subsystems.
• Architect real-time execution strategies across Linux and RTOS environments, focusing on determinism, throughput, and scalability.
• Develop orchestration layers for GPUs, FPGAs, and custom electronics used in synchronized quantum control operations.
• Prototype and iterate with Rust, Python, C/C++, CUDA, and FPGA toolchains.
• Collaborate with quantum theorists, hardware engineers, and platform software teams to deliver production-ready control software.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of relevant postgraduate professional experience.
• BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in C++, Python, Rust, or Go.
• Knowledge of computer architecture, signal processing, algorithm development, quantum error correction, distributed systems, or compilers.
• Ability to work from the Boulder or Austin office at least 3 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with NVIDIA CUDA.
• FPGA design experience with VHDL or Verilog.
• Willingness to learn across quantum computing, hardware, and software disciplines.
