TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Control Systems): Designing and building high-performance control systems for quantum computing platforms with an accent on embedded software, real-time systems, and hardware orchestration. Focus on developing deterministic, low-latency pipelines and integrating GPUs/FPGAs to drive quantum processors.

Location: Hybrid: Must be based in or be able to work from Boulder, CO or Austin, TX (at least 3 days per week in office)

Salary: $150,000 - $175,000

hirify.global builds quantum computers using arrays of optically trapped neutral atoms to enable unprecedented computational breakthroughs.

What you will do

  • Build and test embedded firmware for high-speed software defined radios (SDRs), imaging pipelines, and real-time digital feedback loops.
  • Design deterministic, low-latency software for quantum hardware, including device drivers and Linux kernel modules.
  • Architect real-time execution strategies across Linux and RTOS environments to ensure system scalability and throughput.
  • Develop orchestration layers coordinating GPUs, FPGAs, and custom electronics for synchronized quantum control operations.
  • Rapidly prototype and iterate using Rust, Python, C/C++, CUDA, and FPGA toolchains (VHDL/Verilog).
  • Collaborate with quantum theorists and hardware engineers to translate control flows into production-ready code.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant postgraduate professional experience.
  • Proficiency in software development using C++, Python, Rust, or Go.
  • Experience with NVIDIA CUDA or FPGA design in VHDL or Verilog.
  • Knowledge of computer architecture, signal processing, algorithm development, or distributed systems.
  • Must be available to work in-office in Boulder or Austin at least 3 days per week.
