Security Engineer (Cybersecurity)

TL;DR

Security Engineer (Cybersecurity): Performing system and security administration for federal law enforcement clients with an accent on vulnerability management and incident response. Focus on configuring security tools, managing audits, and providing strategic advice on vulnerability remediation and recovery plans.

Location: Hybrid (Washington, DC / Alexandria, VA). Must reside within commuting distance or satisfy onsite attendance requirements. Requires Public Trust clearance.

What you will do

• Administer security tools including Splunk, Crowdstrike, Tenable, Qualys, and Burpsuite.
• Manage system audits, log management, account reviews, and configuration updates.
• Configure and schedule vulnerability scans and advise clients on critical security points.
• Lead Incident Response (IR) activities, including triage, investigation, and reporting.
• Develop and maintain IR Playbooks, IR Plans, and security-related documentation.
• Act as the primary point of contact for security audits and present analysis to leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or a related field.
• 6 years of experience in information system engineering, configuration management, and secure system design.
• Hands-on experience with Splunk, Crowdstrike, Tenable/Nessus, Qualys, and Burpsuite.
• Security+ certification required.
• Must be eligible for Public Trust clearance.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting to leadership and system owners.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of cloud providers: AWS, Azure, Oracle, GCP.
• CISSP certification.
• Familiarity with RHEL 7/8, Windows, and Oracle/SQL databases.
• Experience with Agile Methodologies and GRC tools (e.g., CSAM).
