What you will do

• Determine routing and placement of cabling, wiring, and fiber optics.
• Perform physical installation of equipment including modems, hubs, routers, and multiplexors.
• Respond to trouble reports, perform troubleshooting, and repair malfunctioning equipment.
• Ensure compliance with building and electrical codes.
• Document and log all equipment and system installation or modification actions.
• Assist in planning and implementing departmental telecommunications facility layout changes.

Requirements

• Must be clearable and able to pass a federal background investigation (NCIC and SF-86).
• Knowledge of communications wiring standards and installation practices.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals, schematic diagrams, and related documentation.
• Must be able to work at heights.
• Proficiency with standard and specialized hand tools, crimpers, and power tools.
• Skill in the use of personal computers and diagnostic software.
