Data Engineer II (Python)

TL;DR

Location: Hybrid (Berlin, Germany). Must be based in or able to relocate to Berlin for office attendance 2 days a week.

What you will do

• Design and build real-time data pipelines using Apache Kafka to enable event-driven architectures.
• Develop CDC-based ingestion pipelines with Debezium for high-scale integration with GCP and BigQuery.
• Establish high standards for data quality, observability, and reliability to support AI-powered workflows.
• Partner with data scientists and ML engineers to operationalize scalable data models for logistics optimization.
• Maintain infrastructure stability through a flexible on-call rotation for logistics and pricing systems.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in data engineering or backend/data platform roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with streaming systems (Apache Kafka, Confluent) and CDC tools (Debezium).
• Extensive experience with GCP (BigQuery) and modern data stacks such as Spark or Flink.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python, with experience supporting MLOps workflows.
• Must be based in or be able to relocate to Berlin to work from the campus 2 days a week.

Nice to have

• Experience in logistics, mobility, or marketplace platforms.
• Exposure to feature stores, online inference systems, or real-time ML.
• Experience with data observability tools.
