Senior Manager, Software Engineering (Kotlin/Kubernetes)

Location: Berlin, Germany; hybrid work with two days per week on the Berlin campus. Relocation support to Berlin is available.

What you will do

• Lead three engineering squads responsible for foundational customer delivery time prediction components.
• Ensure reliability of low-latency, high-throughput prediction systems, including domain-level SLOs and SLAs, on-call readiness, and incident follow-up.
• Collaborate with Product, Operations, Analytics, Logistics leaders, and regional brands to improve business KPIs and integrations.
• Manage and mentor engineering managers and senior individual contributors while building a durable leadership layer.
• Shape the long-term technical roadmap by balancing feature development, reliability, cost efficiency, and modernization.

Requirements

• Experience with Kotlin/JVM, Kubernetes, Redis, and language-agnostic software engineering concepts.
• At least two years of leading squads through engineering managers.
• At least two years of experience working closely with machine learning, including model architectures, statistics, experimentation, training, inference, and monitoring.
• Experience with API-based communication such as gRPC and event-based systems such as SNS/SQS and Kafka.
• Experience managing cross-functional dependencies across Backend, Frontend/Mobile, Data Science, Operations, and Analytics.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, and AWS.
