Engineering Manager, Data Streaming (Kafka)

Location: New York City, United States; hybrid work

Salary: $160,162–$282,952 per year for candidates based in the United States. Expected OTE is $180,000–$318,000 per year, including bonus or commission.

What you will do

• Lead the Data Streaming team responsible for building and operating hirify.global’s managed streaming platform.
• Build, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of platform and reliability engineers.
• Own the platform vision, gather requirements from internal engineering teams, and drive adoption through self-service paved-road interfaces.
• Guide architecture, scalability, automation, observability, infrastructure-as-code, secure design, and data governance across the Kafka and stream-processing stack.
• Partner with SRE leadership to establish SLIs and SLOs, improve monitoring, and maintain operational excellence.
• Lead incident response and post-mortems while ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and healthy data paths as the platform scales globally.

Requirements

• 5+ years of increasing responsibility in platform engineering or infrastructure, including engineering team management and mentoring.
• Experience owning and delivering infrastructure services with significant business value.
• Strong knowledge of distributed, event-driven systems including Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, and Apache Flink.
• Hands-on experience scaling internal platforms with cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience with Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, reliability engineering, and operational practices.
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills for aligning engineering teams, leadership, SREs, and internal consumers.
