Enterprise AI Architect / Agentic Platform Lead (m/f/d)

Location: Garching, Bavaria, Germany; hybrid work with most office-based roles onsite three days per week. Travel of up to 25% domestically and internationally is required.

Annual gross base salary: €138,550–€179,300.

What you will do

• Lead and develop a team of AI Platform Engineers, Solution Architects, and Agent Developers, with 4+ direct reports.
• Set organizational priorities, resource plans, delivery roadmaps, engineering standards, KPIs, and operational metrics.
• Own the availability, scalability, operational performance, and continuous improvement of the Enterprise AI platform.
• Define enterprise AI reference architecture, integration standards, governance forums, evaluation methodologies, and operational controls.
• Coordinate delivery with Data, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Digital Workplace, business leaders, and global engineering teams.
• Manage budgets, technology investments, vendor relationships, hiring, mentoring, and succession planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, plus 6+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, cloud architecture, software architecture, or platform engineering.
• Deep expertise in cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, APIs, data platforms, security architecture, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Strong knowledge of AI application architecture, agent-based systems, retrieval-augmented generation, orchestration frameworks, vector databases, and modern AI development ecosystems.
• Experience defining architecture standards, governance frameworks, observability practices, evaluation methodologies, and operational controls for enterprise platforms.
• Proven experience managing engineering or architecture teams of 4+ engineers or architects, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development.
• Experience developing roadmaps and operational plans, managing vendors and investments, influencing senior leadership, and balancing strategic architecture with operational delivery.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar AI ecosystems.
• Certifications in cloud architecture, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, or AI-related technologies.
• Experience scaling enterprise AI engineering organizations and managing globally distributed teams.
• Experience with responsible AI, model risk management, AI governance, compliance frameworks, cloud budgets, and vendor contracts.
