What you will do

• Define and enforce data contracts across platform services, including schemas, ownership, and change management.
• Establish standards for data lineage, metadata, and semantic consistency across the enterprise data platform.
• Implement data-level SLIs and SLOs to ensure quality, freshness, and correctness of data services.
• Write production code to implement governance mechanisms such as schema validation and contract enforcement.
• Partner with SRE and Platform Development to embed governance requirements directly into APIs and pipelines.
• Transition from an individual contributor to a people management role by hiring and mentoring platform engineers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of strong hands-on experience building production data or platform systems.
• Deep understanding of data governance concepts, including contracts, lineage, and metadata.
• Strong software engineering foundation in API design, modular architectures, and CI/CD practices.
• Ability to enforce standards through code and automation rather than just documentation.
• Must be available for in-person interviews in New York.

Nice to have

• Experience in large-scale enterprise or media environments.
• Familiarity with lakehouse architectures and ELT pipelines.
• Exposure to BI tooling such as Tableau or Power BI from a platform perspective.
• Experience modernizing legacy data systems within cloud-native environments.
