Cloud Platform Architect (AWS)

What you will do

• Develop cloud architecture strategy, standards, best practices, roadmaps, blueprints, and reference patterns for AWS platforms.
• Design secure, scalable, highly available, resilient, and cost-efficient AWS cloud platforms.
• Partner with security, compliance, operations, and engineering teams to integrate cloud capabilities with existing and future platforms.
• Establish AWS technical governance, manage architectural risks and technical debt, and drive compliance and cost optimisation.
• Advise on cloud solutions, migration strategies, hybrid environments, and cloud-native architectures.
• Mentor technical teams and evaluate cloud services, tools, automation, and infrastructure-as-code approaches.

Requirements

• Strong experience designing scalable, secure, and highly available systems on AWS.
• Deep knowledge of cloud networking, security, databases, and storage.
• Experience with containers, Kubernetes, serverless architectures, Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform or CloudFormation, CI/CD pipelines, Jira, and Jenkins.
• Knowledge of architectural frameworks and strong problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills.
• Experience working in a regulated industry and understanding of ISO 27001, PCI DSS, and UK financial regulations.
• This role is based in the Bristol head office and does not provide employment sponsorship.

Nice to have

• AWS or other relevant cloud certification, such as AWS Solutions Architect.
• Experience with hybrid cloud environments and cloud migration design and implementation support.
• Knowledge of UK financial services regulations and familiarity with Enterprise Architecture tooling.
