Infrastructure Platform Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Farnborough, United Kingdom — onsite 5 days per week. Candidates must meet applicable UK Government and contractual personnel security and residency requirements and have the right to work in the United Kingdom. Some roles may have nationality requirements.

What you will do

• Design enterprise infrastructure architectures across compute, storage, networking, virtualisation, and hybrid cloud platforms.
• Lead implementation of AWS, Azure, or private-cloud platforms for mission-critical workloads.
• Architect virtualisation, containerisation, orchestration, disaster recovery, business continuity, and high-availability solutions.
• Guide infrastructure modernisation, legacy migrations, technology refreshes, capacity planning, and cost optimisation.
• Establish governance, design standards, change-control processes, and architecture documentation.
• Lead technical teams and engage senior customer stakeholders through design workshops, reviews, and architecture presentations.

Requirements

• Extensive IT infrastructure experience, including enterprise-scale infrastructure architecture and implementation.
• Strong cloud architecture experience with AWS, Azure, or an equivalent platform, including scaling and cost optimisation.
• Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM; SAN/NAS storage; backup and recovery; SDN; load balancing; and network security architecture.
• Understanding of containerisation, Kubernetes, microservices, disaster recovery, business continuity, and high-availability design.
• Experience in defence, aerospace, or government IT environments, including security, compliance, ITAR, and applicable defence standards.
• Eligibility for UK Government and contractual security requirements, applicable residency requirements, and the right to work in the United Kingdom.
