Infrastructure / Platform Architect (System Design Team)

Location: Farnborough, United Kingdom; onsite 5 days per week. Candidates must have the right to work in the United Kingdom and meet applicable UK Government and contractual personnel security and residency requirements. Some roles may have nationality requirements.

What you will do

• Maintain infrastructure and platform viewpoints within end-to-end Solution Architecture.
• Provide architecture guidance across VMware Cloud Foundation, NSX, compute, storage, backup, recovery, networking, and shared platform services.
• Review and assure supplier-produced Service Designs, HLDs, and supporting artefacts against requirements, standards, and architectural direction.
• Apply Secure by Design principles and coordinate security assurance, risk, IAM, IDAM/IGA, PAM, authentication, federation, and directory-service considerations.
• Guide container-platform, infrastructure-as-code, configuration-management, integration, migration, transition, and operational-readiness planning.
• Facilitate workshops and design reviews for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Substantial infrastructure experience, including infrastructure, platform, or solution architecture roles.
• Experience generating, reviewing, and assuring Service Designs and HLDs in complex, multi-supplier, or regulated environments.
• Customer-facing experience with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams.
• Strong enterprise infrastructure knowledge across compute, storage, networking, backup, recovery, virtualisation, platform management, and observability.
• Strong VMware VCF and NSX knowledge, plus understanding of Kubernetes, OpenShift, or VMware Tanzu.
• Knowledge of Ansible, Terraform, Git-based workflows, CI/CD controls, IAM, and security assurance.
