What you will do

• Act as the officially registered Information Officer in South Africa.
• Build and lead a local privacy team while coordinating with the global Data Protection Officer.
• Design and execute a comprehensive framework for handling personal information in compliance with South African and European standards.
• Conduct deep-dive reviews of new products and AI tools to ensure security and transparency.
• Partner with engineering teams to integrate privacy features directly into software and applications.
• Manage audits, reports, and customer requests regarding personal data access and deletion.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in compliance, privacy, risk management, legal, or audit.
• Expertise in privacy laws including POPIA, FICA, NCA, CPA, and GDPR.
• Proven ability to lead compliance programs for consumer products.
• Strong understanding of the interplay between compliance risk and business risk.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear advice in ambiguous situations.
• Must be based in South Africa to fulfill the registered Information Officer role.

Nice to have

• Background in large banks or high-growth fintech companies.
• Professional certifications such as CIPP/E or CIPP/A.
• Membership with the Compliance Institute Southern Africa (CISA).
