What you will do

• Own all legal matters including corporate, commercial, IP, employment, data, and product.
• Lead proactive engagement with the FCA and oversee AML, KYC, and financial crime controls.
• Design and own the enterprise risk management framework and governance policies.
• Drive geographic expansion by navigating complex legal and regulatory requirements in new markets.
• Build and mentor a high-performing legal and compliance team as the business scales.
• Champion the use of AI and legal technology to streamline contract review and compliance monitoring.

Requirements

• 8+ years of PQE with significant experience heading a legal function.
• Deep, hands-on knowledge of FCA-regulated environments, including Consumer Duty, COBS, and MCOB.
• Proven experience implementing AML, KYC, and financial crime frameworks.
• Strong commercial instincts with the ability to balance risk and business growth.
• Experience advising boards and influencing stakeholders without authority.
• Must be based in London and comfortable with a hybrid work model.

Nice to have

• Experience with property, mortgage, or investment products.
• Familiarity with international or emerging market regulatory frameworks.
• Previously held a named FCA-approved person status.
