What you will do

• Lead the Risk and Compliance Monitoring Plan as a second-line function, operating independently from the advisory team.
• Design and conduct risk-based thematic reviews and control tests across products, processes, and partner banks.
• Coordinate monitoring efforts across UK Compliance, Financial Crime, and US Compliance teams.
• Own the follow-up and closure of monitoring actions, reporting aging items to the Risk Committee.
• Produce detailed monitoring reports and actionable recommendations for senior leadership and partner banks.
• Quality-assure monitoring reviews carried out by other areas to ensure consistency and independence.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience owning or running a Compliance Monitoring or independent assurance programme in a UK FCA-regulated firm.
• Proven experience operating in the second line of defence, providing constructive challenge to the business.
• Track record of building and executing risk-based monitoring plans.
• Solid working knowledge of FCA SYSC and the EMD/PSD regime.
• Demonstrable experience designing thematic reviews and control tests, including data analysis.
• Strong stakeholder influence and ability to present findings to governance forums.

Nice to have

• Background in FinTech or Payments (EMI, fraud, safeguarding, or operational resilience).
• Experience coordinating monitoring across multiple jurisdictions (e.g., UK and US).
• Professional qualifications such as ICA Diploma in Compliance, ACAMS, IIA, or Big 4 consulting experience.
