What you will do

• Design and develop custom optical systems, including illumination, imaging, and laser beam propagation optics.
• Perform prototype system integration, testing, and debugging in laboratory environments.
• Create optical models for design and engineering analysis using Zemax Optic Studio.
• Collaborate with application scientists, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers on next-generation flow cytometry products.
• Prepare technical documentation, including requirements, specifications, and test plans.
• Provide technical support to Manufacturing and Field Service teams to ensure continuous quality improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Optics, Optical Sciences, or Optical Engineering required.
• Must be able to work onsite in Austin, Texas.
• Proficiency with Zemax Optics Studio for lens design and tolerancing.
• Experience with laser instrumentation and characterization tools.
• Familiarity with CAD software, specifically SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of optical coatings and filters for fluorescence detection.

Nice to have

• Master’s Degree in a relevant optical field.
• Direct experience in flow cytometry.
• Non-sequential raytracing experience.
