What you will do

• Validate that regulatory obligations are correctly mapped to existing controls.
• Analyze regulatory and legislative texts to determine obligations applicable to financial institutions.
• Verify that controls exist and are properly documented to meet regulatory requirements.
• Review work performed by FinCrime SMEs and decisions made by Escalation Officers with high attention to detail.
• Communicate review observations and feedback to key stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to improve adherence to regulatory requirements and company standards.

Requirements

• Must be based in Cyprus
• 2+ years of experience in FinCrime areas (CDD, AML, sanctions screening, and transaction monitoring) across three lines of defense.
• Experience interpreting financial services laws such as the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 or Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
• Familiarity with CySEC regulations and the Central Bank of Cyprus.
• English: Fluency (C1) required
• Professional experience in a fintech, traditional financial institution, or regulatory body.

Nice to have

• Degree in law or experience as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or Compliance Officer.
• Knowledge of PEP regulations.
• Experience with rule-based or model-based AML transaction monitoring, including threshold tuning.
• Expertise in KYC/KYB onboarding risk prevention.
• Relevant certifications such as ACAMS, ICA AML, or CySEC Certification.
