TL;DR
Financial Crime Investigator (AML/SAR): Investigating Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and assessing escalations to the National Crime Agency (NCA) with an accent on risk-based decision making and regulatory compliance. Focus on analyzing customer activity, managing investigations through to resolution, and producing regulator-ready documentation.
Location: Hybrid - must be based within reasonable travelling distance of UK hub locations (Edinburgh, Birmingham, Chester, Glasgow, Halifax, Hove, Leeds, Manchester, Newport, Cardiff)
Salary: £33,203 - £34,950

What you will do
- Assess manual and system-generated alerts using sound judgment.
- Investigate SARs and determine the appropriate course of action, including escalations to the NCA.
- Manage end-to-end investigations while meeting strict SLAs.
- Analyze customer activity to decide whether relationships should be continued or exited.
- Produce high-quality, regulator-ready documentation of findings.
- Identify potential financial crime risks and contribute to continuous improvement within the team.
Requirements
- Experience in Financial Crime (AML, KYC, Transaction Monitoring, or Investigations).
- Strong understanding of Financial Crime regulations and investigative techniques.
- Ability to assess complex information and make sound, risk-based decisions.
- Strong attention to detail and high-standard written communication skills.
- Analytical mindset to identify risks and patterns.
- Must be based within reasonable travelling distance of one of the UK hub locations to attend when required.
Nice to have
- Experience investigating SARs.
- Exposure to raising cases or risks to external authorities such as the NCA.
- Experience with transaction monitoring or alert-based systems.
