Underwriting & Governance Analyst (Insurance)

Location: Leeds, Manchester, or Birmingham, UK; hybrid working with 3 days in the office and 2 days from home

What you will do

• Maintain underwriting governance standards, controls, delegated authorities, and operating processes.
• Review and approve non-standard endorsements and monitor adherence to underwriting guidelines.
• Support legal and regulatory change, governance reporting, reinsurance initiatives, and operational projects.
• Lead, coach, and develop the Underwriting Enablement Team, including workload allocation and performance management.
• Build processes, structure, and operating models for the newly created function.
• Partner with Product Line Leaders, Pricing, senior underwriting leaders, and management to improve efficiency and technical excellence.

Requirements

• Significant experience in underwriting, technical broking, or insurance governance.
• Strong technical underwriting knowledge and experience with underwriting controls, governance, or regulatory requirements.
• Experience coaching, mentoring, or leading others.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, analytical, and organisational skills.
• Proactive, improvement-focused approach with interest in using technology and AI to improve processes.
• Ability to work in the Leeds, Manchester, or Birmingham office 3 days per week.

Nice to have

• ACII qualification or progress towards completion.
• Product experience in Financial Lines, Liability, or Commercial insurance.
