Principal Cloud Operations Engineer, Infrastructure (Cloud)

Location: Hybrid; associated with Krakow, Poland

Salary: 236,500–360,300 PLN annually, plus potential annual bonus or commission and benefits.

What you will do

• Operate and improve the reliability, availability, performance, and observability of Pega Cloud services across AWS and GCP.
• Handle alerts, incidents, service requests, changes, and customer escalations within SLA.
• Provision environments and perform infrastructure and product upgrades.
• Troubleshoot customer environments, identify root causes, and conduct blameless post-mortems.
• Create operational runbooks and automate repetitive tasks to reduce operational toil.
• Participate in pre-release testing and an after-hours on-call rotation, including weekends.

Requirements

• 8+ years of operational or engineering experience with Java applications and Apache Tomcat.
• 5+ years of enterprise-scale Linux administration and 5+ years of hands-on AWS experience.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure administration, upgrades, backup and recovery, monitoring, and observability.
• Experience with Kubernetes-based microservices, web servers, database troubleshooting, SQL, and performance analysis using thread and heap dumps.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, Bash/Shell, and Python.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or an equivalent qualification.

Nice to have

• AWS Certification, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, or Pega Certified System Architect certification.
• Experience with GCP or Azure, PostgreSQL or Oracle, MongoDB, Cassandra, and Grafana.
