What you will do

• Concept and design high-fidelity charts, maps, and explanatory graphics for news features and newsletters.
• Translate complex macroeconomic concepts into intuitive visual assets for a general audience.
• Collaborate with reporters and data analysts to pitch and execute strategic data visualization opportunities.
• Deploy automated chart frameworks and generative AI tools to accelerate breaking news production.
• Maintain and expand an enterprise-level library of design templates and component patterns.
• Implement workflow scripting to scale visual assets across desktop, mobile, and social formats.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States.
• 3+ years of professional experience in information design or data visualization within a newsroom or media entity.
• Expert proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Figma.
• Extensive experience with data visualization toolkits like Datawrapper or Flourish.
• Proven ability to incorporate AI-augmented design systems into professional production workflows.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating advanced typography, composition, and visual hierarchy.

Nice to have

• Practical experience with prompt engineering or AI script environments.
• Technical knowledge of front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript libraries like D3.js.
• Experience designing or animating graphics for digital video and social media.
• Professional focus on macroeconomic shifts and fintech trends.
