What you will do

• Design mechanical subsystems for vacuum systems, optical support structures, and opto-electronics.
• Create novel mechanical specifications from component to system level.
• Perform stability, thermal, vibration, and tolerance analysis to evaluate design solutions.
• Own complex technical projects throughout the entire lifecycle from concept to delivery.
• Assist in hands-on assembly and precision alignment of finalized designs.
• Analyze and recommend design trade-offs to balance competing engineering requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 7+ years of optomechanical design experience.
• Mastery of Solidworks, PDM, or equivalent design software.
• Strong background in FEA, including meshing, modal, and thermal analysis.
• Experience with precision mechanism design, kinematic interfaces, and vacuum chamber hardware.
• Ability to work on-site in Boulder, CO.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Hands-on experience with optics and opto-mechanical best practices.
