Data Engineer

Data Engineer (AWS/SQL): Define, model, validate, and deliver accessible data for stakeholders across the Americas, Asia Pacific, and EU with an accent on data architecture, scalable ETL/data pipelines, and enterprise system integration. Focus on building highly scalable cloud data solutions (data lakes/warehouses/marts) and ensuring ETL quality and accuracy while supporting data-related technical issues.

Location: San Diego, CA, United States (100% remote, reporting to San Diego, CA)

Salary: $180,502 - $200,000 per year

What you will do

• Own data platform responsibilities from ingestion through transformation and access/integration across the Americas, Asia Pacific, and EU.
• Design and document data architecture and data models supporting enterprise systems and analytics.
• Build and maintain scalable data pipeline integrations and solutions using SQL and AWS services, including data lakes, data warehouses, and data marts.
• Assemble and process large, complex datasets to meet functional and non-functional business requirements.
• Maintain data catalog documentation and collaborate with test engineers to ensure ETL operational efficiency and data accuracy.
• Support stakeholders with data-related technical issues and requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science/Computer Engineering (or related) plus 5 years of progressive Data Engineering experience; or Master’s degree plus 1 year experience in Data Engineering in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree.
• 3 years (1 year with a Master’s degree) of experience working on Enterprise Systems.
• Proven data architecture experience, including structured and semi-structured data architectures.
• Strong SQL experience with relational databases, query authoring, and working with multiple database systems.
• Experience building scalable ETLs and data processes, including working with petabyte-scale disconnected datasets.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Oracle EBS, Spark/Scala, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Python, and AWS services (S3, DMS, EC2, RDS, Lambda, IAM, SQS, SNS), plus Terraform, Airflow, job schedulers, and shell scripts.
