Senior Field Application Engineer (FAE) - MPU & DNPU (f/m/d)

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership to sales teams and customers on edge-compute architecture, processor selection, system bring-up, and software-stack integration for robotics platforms.
• Own robotics compute architectures covering perception, localization, planning, and control integration.
• Guide customers in deploying robotics software stacks on NXP MPU and DNPU platforms.
• Design and support companion computers, central compute, vision/perception subsystems, and HMI nodes from silicon selection through Linux bring-up and performance tuning.
• Enable AI, vision, and sensor-fusion workloads, including model conversion and optimized on-device inference.
• Deliver on-site and remote proof-of-concept builds using evaluation kits, reference designs, BSPs, and SDKs.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
• 10+ years of embedded systems development or applications support for MPU/SoC platforms running embedded Linux, with demonstrated technical leadership.
• Strong experience with embedded Linux across bootloaders, kernels, device drivers, device trees, Yocto/build systems, and user-space integration.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and working knowledge of Python or scripting for tooling and automation.
• Experience with ARM Cortex-A processors, heterogeneous compute, high-speed interfaces, PCB optimization, schematic review, signal analysis, and laboratory tools.
• Fluent English and willingness to travel are required.

• AI/ML enablement on edge processors and integrated NPUs, including model conversion and optimization for robotics perception.
• Computer vision, sensor fusion, camera bring-up, ISP tuning, and multi-camera synchronization.
• ROS/ROS 2, DDS, Rust, real-time Linux, SLAM, navigation, and motion-planning frameworks.
• Inter-core communication, platform security, robotics connectivity, power management, functional safety, and cybersecurity standards.
