Payroll Lead (Finance)

Payroll Lead (Finance): Leading the accurate and timely delivery of monthly payrolls for thousands of colleagues with an accent on UK payroll legislation and people leadership. Focus on ensuring compliance, managing statutory payments, and optimizing payroll processes and controls.

Location: Hybrid (Nuneaton, UK). Must be present in the office for a minimum of two days per week.

What you will do

• Lead the accurate and timely delivery of monthly payrolls in compliance with UK legislation.
• Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support to the Payroll team.
• Act as the technical expert and first point of escalation for complex payroll queries and system issues.
• Perform manual calculations for statutory payments, including SSP and SMP.
• Manage workplace pension processes and auto-enrolment requirements.
• Conduct payroll reconciliations and audit checks to maintain accuracy and compliance.

Requirements

• Experience leading or supervising a payroll team.
• Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation (PAYE, NIC, RTI, statutory payments, and pensions).
• Experience working within a large or complex payroll environment.
• Proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Must be based in or able to commute to Nuneaton, UK for hybrid work requirements.

• CIPP qualification.
